Augusts Newsletter 2008
Dear Friends and Prayer Warriors,
What an incredible month for us
this past month. A month and a half ago August only had two revivals in it. The Lord truly
filled our calendar with a worship weekend at one church and a total of four revivals and
one concert. The Bible says in Psalm 37:4 to "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and
he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." Our desire was to see a full month of
ministry opportunities and He granted that. As you read in last month's newsletter, we had
also been praying for a newer motor home for the ministry and the Lord answered that
prayer as well. After ironing out a few of its bug, we are absolutely loving our new ride.
We were able to use it in all four of our revivals this month. And what a blessing it has
been.
On August 1 & 2 we led in
worship at Kilmichael Baptist Church for their "Standing in the Gap" ministry
weekend. They set aside those two days to minister to those in their community by helping
out with different projects for those in need. In the evening, everyone would return to
the church for an evening meal together and a time of worship and testimonial time of how
God was working through the different projects. This weekend home missions project was led
by Jimmy and Tincey Eldridge, along with Rita Eldridge, Larry Bamberg, and Pastor Gary
Jackson. It was such a great weekend, they have already contacted us about leading the
worship time again next summer.
We left Kimichael that
Saturday evening around 8:00 and headed to Smithdale, MS to begin Revival services at Mount Zion Baptist Church for a week long revival
on August 3-8. We had a wonderful time getting to know the good folks there. Their pastor
is Bro. Marvin Howard. You may remember that he was the guest speaker for a revival we did
back in February in Hollandale, MS. We had a great time getting to know his wife, Susan,
and their wonderful grown children Margaret and Matthew. We even had one day that they
took us out to the lake for a picnic and a boat ride. Some of us even water skied. We
camped out at Bro. Marvin's sister and brother-in-law's place. Mark & Denise Strother
were so kind and just made us feel at home. The guest speaker for the week was Bro. Leon
Wallace who pastors Siloam Baptist just a few miles down the road from Mt. Zion. Bro. Leon
preached some wonderful messages. We believe that revival truly took place at Mt. Zion.
Their were people praying at the altar each night and there were two professions of faith.
After having some repairs done on
the motor home at the tune of $406, we were back on the road heading northeast to
Crawford, MS to lead in revival services at Bethesda Baptist Church on August 10-13. The
guest speaker was Bro. Allen Dees from Kosciusko, MS. Bro. Allen had an incredible gift of
bringing the Scriptures to life. It was a joy being back with the good folks at Bethesda.
Please keep them in your prayers as the search for a new pastor.
We then traveled north to Slayden Baptist Church near Lamar, MS just
three or four miles from the Tennessee border. We were in revival services on August
17-20. Their pastor and his family are dear friends of ours, Dr. David and Beth Bishop and
their daughter Lauren. Bro. David invited Dr. Jimmy Porter, director of the Christian Action Commission, to preach the
revival services. It has been several years since we worked with Bro. Jimmy. It was so
good hearing him preach once again and getting to know his wife, Tommie. We also had the
privilege to get to know Slayden's music minister and his wife, Bro. Mark and Misty
Mathis. There was one public profession of faith that week and one who transferred his
membership to Slayden from sister church in the area.
Our final revival for the month was
at the opposite end of the state near Foxworth, MS at New Hope Baptist Church on August 24-27. Bro.
Tim Parker is pastoring there. Many of you may remember that we were there back in October
of '07 for a tent crusade. They invited Bro. Melvin Mordecai back to preach this revival
as well. It was good to hear him present the gospel once again. We had a great time and it
was so good to see a well attended revival meeting.
On August 31st, we finished
the month out with a concert at Fellowship
Baptist Church in Starkville, MS. Fellowship is currently without a pastor, so we
appreciate Ronnie and Relda Engelmann for inviting us to be a part of their worship
service that night.
Be in prayer for Becky and
Christian as they begin his second grade year of home schooling on September 1st. Also be
praying as we prepare for what is shaping up to be a fairly busy Fall for the ministry.
Thank you for all you do for One Way Ministries.
In His Service,

Steve & Becky Carver
